Acrylic on stretched canvas,2022. Set into a bespoke natural wood tray frame. 

Habitat: widespread across the UK. Hedgerows, woodland and farmland.

Native hedgehog numbers have plummeted by at least half in the UK. Our beloved hedgehogs have declined massively in farmland, so sensitively managed wildlife-friendly gardens have now become increasingly important. The loss of hedges and copses to create larger fields has resulted in fewer nesting sites and less protection 

Classified as Vulnerable under the IUCN Red list for Threatened species.
